In case you didn't know, I'm a digital nomad. I have no fixed address but move around the world, visiting lots of fun places. So I've decided to do a weekly blog feature highlighting some of the most interesting, fun or just plain weird places I've been. Hopefully, you'll find some of them interesting too.
If you have even a passing interest in Harry Potter, Livraria Lello bookshop in Porto, Portugal will look familiar. Apparently, J. K. Rowling visited this bookshop when she lived in Porto and was writing Harry Potter.
Didn't know that she lived in Porto when she was writing it? Trust me, if you spend more than two minutes talking to a local. they'll tell you :)
Livraria Lello was the inspiration for Hogwarts, and is meant to be the most beautiful bookshop in the world. I can believe that, I've never seen a better one.
Before you can even enter, you have to go to the tourist office and buy a ticket. It costs 5 euro (I think) and you get that refunded from your purchases. I guess that stops the place being over run.
If you ever get the chance to visit, try not to go on a weekend. It's way too busy to enjoy properly and, to be honest, I was a bit worried about pickpockets in the crush.
Have you ever been to an amazing bookshop?
